Funding and Acknowledgments

At Academia Publications, we are committed to promoting transparency and integrity in the research and publication process. Proper disclosure of funding sources and acknowledgments ensures that potential conflicts of interest are identified and that all contributors receive appropriate recognition for their support.

1. Instructions for Authors to Disclose Funding Sources

To maintain transparency and uphold ethical standards, authors must disclose all sources of financial support for their research. This includes, but is not limited to, grants, fellowships, scholarships, institutional support, and any other funding received from public or private entities.

  • Mandatory Disclosure:
Authors are required to include a Funding Statement in their manuscript, detailing all funding sources that supported the work. This statement should specify the funding agency, grant number, and the role of the funder in the research and publication process, if any.

  • Conflict of Interest Consideration:
Disclosing funding sources helps identify any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research outcomes or interpretation. Transparency in funding ensures that readers can assess the objectivity and credibility of the research presented.

  • No Funding Scenario:
If the research did not receive any external funding, authors should clearly state, "No external funding was received for this study."

  • Supplementary Funding Information:
Additional funding details can be provided in the acknowledgments section if they are not directly related to the research but contributed to the overall support of the authors or their institutions.

2. Guidance for Providing Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments offer authors the opportunity to recognize individuals, organizations, or institutions that contributed to the research or manuscript preparation but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

  • Acknowledging Contributions:
Authors should include an Acknowledgments Section in their manuscript to thank those who provided technical assistance, editorial support, feedback, or other forms of non-financial support.

  • Ethical Considerations:
Only individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution should be acknowledged. It is important to obtain consent from those being acknowledged to avoid any unintended associations or implications of endorsement.

  • Institutional and Personal Thanks:
Acknowledgments can include gratitude towards mentors, colleagues, administrative staff, and institutions that facilitated the research. Additionally, authors may acknowledge the use of facilities, equipment, or software that were essential for their study.

  • Avoiding Confusion with Authorship:
The acknowledgments section should not be used to list authors or to imply authorship. Clear distinctions must be maintained between those who qualify for authorship and those who are being acknowledged for their support.

  • Funding and Grant Acknowledgments:
While funding sources should primarily be disclosed in the Funding Statement, any additional financial support related to the research should also be mentioned in the acknowledgments if appropriate.
